Robin is a child and adolescent psychiatrist based in Washington State. Originally from Scotland, he completed an undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Edinburgh and a medical degree at the University of Nottingham in 2010. He trained in child and adolescent psychiatry within the National Health Service in Edinburgh, completing specialist training in 2018 before moving to Seattle with his family. He then completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Washington in 2022.
Dr. Berger is committed to widening access to quality mental healthcare, with a particular focus on improving outcomes for young people facing complex difficulties and systemic barriers. He provides inpatient care for older adolescents at the Child Study and Treatment Center through the Behavioral Health Administration, Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, where he also serves as training lead for psychiatry. His clinical interests include the transition from adolescence to adulthood, the emergence of mood disorder and psychosis, early intervention for personality disorder, and developmental disabilities.
He is active in advocacy and systems development, including involvement with NAMI Washington and national service with the APA Foundation on the APA Council of Quality Care. His academic interests include medical education, health service development, and the social determinants of mental health.
