Job Description:

Recovery Place Kent is a 32-bed licensed Co-occurring facility offering both Evaluation & Treatment and Secure Withdraw Management beds, primarily serving King CountyWe are looking for a part time 20-30 hours a week Associate Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry. This position oversees the psychiatric care for individuals admitted to involuntary psychiatric or withdrawal management services. The position provides direct psychiatric care for patients admitted to Recovery Place Kent (RPK), provides clinical supervision to Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.

Job Duties:

Essential Job Functions (This is not the job in its entirety):

  • Provide initial psychiatric evaluations to clients admitted to involuntary psychiatric and secure withdrawal management services.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary care team in creation of a treatment plan.
  • Provide and document ongoing psychiatric assessments throughout episodes of inpatient treatment.
  • Provide medical/ pharmacologic management of clients’ psychiatric conditions and substance withdrawal, as indicated and appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate assessment, orders and documentation of any required emergency treatment, seclusion, or restraints.
  • Provide medical/clinical support to the nursing team as requested.
  • Utilize and oversee medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorders, including naltrexone and buprenorphine when appropriate.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed inside and outside in varying temperatures.
  • Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 25 pounds.
  • May be exposed to office supply odors or vapors.
  • Employee is sitting, the majority of the time.
  • Employee is also required to stand, walk, type, bend, write, read, interpret and explain complex issues and speak on the telephone.

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O.Graduation from an accredited school or program
  • Licensed to practice under state WAC and RCWABPN Board certified or board-eligible
  • Familiarity with best practices in substance use disorder treatment including withdrawal management, Medication Assisted Treatment for OUD and harm reduction
  • Understanding of Washington State Involuntary Treatment Act procedure
